The most difficult part is adding the booster steam pipes to the 2046 shell.

Had some time over the Holidays and finally built an engine I have wanted to do for a long time.  A 2046 and a 675 have become the never released postwar 226.  Purs like a kitten and has firebox glow.!

General Discussion / 814r with a red roof
« on: September 23, 2024, 04:20:07 PM »
I just saw on E bay a 253 set with some extra cars.  There is a 814r with a red roof.  It shows wear and only shows metal in the scratches.

I was not sure if I could show the picture here but it is under 253  and the picture shows a set box.

If anyone looks and knows if this is legitimate, it would be fun to know.

Thanks

Harold

Collector Corner / 6430 with metal trailer roof's
« on: April 18, 2022, 02:54:50 PM »
Pulled out some post war trailer cars that were in storage for a while.  Found a 6430 with gray CJ trailers with metal roofs.  These were done a while ago for I have had the car for 40 years.  The paint almost matches the unpainted trailers.

Anybody else have metal roofed trailers?

How To and Technical Information / 254e cars

Hi Terry.

Your description on the sight for the 254 says it came in sets with the large 800 cars.  Which of the cars would have been in the 254e sets.

General Discussion / Buying trains

Living in an area that is a little thin on train shows, where else besides ebay would be a good place to look for 600 and 800 series cars etc.

The stuff under the track is a roll of carper anti slide stuff that I cut pieces out of.  Track does not move at all.  Do not have a dog but have two cats that love the train.

With its new wheels, after eleven years of sitting, the 254E was chosen as the Christmas train this year.

I have a mix of 800 and one 900 cars for it.  Some with journals boxes, some without.  Have been looking for tank and dump cars.

The hopper will be lettered for the fictitious Dorsey Coal and Coke.  Lettering is a ways off.  Have not ordered the transfers yet and will be doing the letter by letter thing.

Have not had a real layout in many years but am working on getting a two story garage built.  Have an old house and can run trains from room to room to the delight of the cats.

Finally finished painting the hopper.  It is a 17/64" car that I got on E bay.  Its a cast car that I three railed and added a few things to.  When this car is lettered and given a much needed coat of dull coat, I will start that tank car that will be a King Syrup car.
