Like new 2812X burnt orange gondola--last run 1942?..I say this because of what I found inside each of the pull-apart 0209 barrels. Each one had a little red painted barrel. It matches the red paint on 362-78 and 0209 red painted barrels...hmmm...anyone ever see or have?? they do not look amateur/little boy painted. They do resemble a little bit like the prewar 3652 operating gondola barrels too..
from the shelf, this appears an ordinary apple green 408E..however, there is a rough texture to this one--it looks like sand in the paint/texture nearly throughout the piece....I know Ives did this on accessories and loco`s...did Lionel? this is 100% original Lionel paint..thoughts?
I love odd ball Prewar Lionel. This 262/262T in master carton is odd..The frame has nickel pumps but gloss black frame to match the copper trim sheet metal top. Its not a "E" like the over pasted loco box states. Now the frame should be satin with those pumps..is this a 1935.5? Cleaning out the parts bin at the factory that day lol..I carefully took the top off to see if the wiring dicked with--looks factory to me.Thinking this would go with the odd transition 800 series freights. Late colors/brass plates/latch couplers.Lastly...did anyone know what the little cutout is for on the front of loco insert? That's where the bulb box goes! Huh??
@1934 set--I just love the paint scheme on this set..It`s really unplayed with..Terry and I have been going back and forth on the #068`s..some you see boxed separate sale but IMO feel the ones in set boxes were most likely wrapped in Lionel wax paper..
