Built Rite Train Scenery #202

(1/1)

Terry:
I found this in the closet and decided to use it on the layout. Just something I got over the years and put aside for later.

And now it's later.

Built Rite Toys of Lafayette,  Indiana Copyright 1941. Catalog number 202 60 inch backdrop set.

The box has three panels. Two end panels with lake and mountains and a center town section.

One end section has a tunnel cut out:

The back of each section has a tabbed edge to help the sections stand up:

It appears there is some cardboard missing. . .  A bracer for the center of each section:

Copyright information is on the bottom of each section:

Terry:
Here's some photos of what I'm doing with the Buil Rite Backdrops:

I'll cut them and wrap them around the corner. Or maybe I just put the seam in the corner. I like to think for a few days and give my mind a chance to make a better decision.

I tried them with blue and green between them and the upper layout:

I have had this set for many years, not in as nice of condition, but I think it is complete with a worn box.
Mine has got a lot of use as a photography backdrop, going back to when I was shooting Marx Trains prototype items for our ads in Classic Toy Trains magazine.

Terry:
I'm looking for a local print shop that can scan and then enlarge the panels so they are higher.  That way I don't have carpet on the verticle.

If I do that I'm not cutting the panels up.

But if I cut the panels up, I'll send you the box Jim. All four corners on the lid are loose and the upper side is also loose.
