Lionel Paper Stamp

Here is a picture of my early box with the Lionel Made in America stamp.    This is the sticker in the cab of a 5 or 6.

Is that an O gauge set box?

Jim and I both have 33 locos with the paper stamp. Those are 1913 maybe as late as 1915. Dave McEntarfer in the prewar sets book says the box you show dates to 1915/16.

So we know the stamp was in use then.

For some reason - maybe I read it somewhere or overheard two collectors talking - I think this stamp has something to do with the war in Europe, and maybe also with the american toy fair.  I think Hollander's book coveres the early toy fair days.

Yes, this is an Outfit 70 box from 1915. What's even better is that this is from the original owners family. Contains an exceptional clean 700 AND (this will be of interest to tinplater) an OLIVE 600 Pullman, only one, the other apparently got lost over the years, but it proves the olive 600 (of which tinplater has 2, I believe) came in Outfit 70 with a 700. By the way, this   also came with the original owners 1915 catalog.

Here's a Standard Gauge box, 1915-16, marked Outfit 38 that belongs to a friend of mine with the sticker in the lower right hand corner.

Does the pick-up on the 700 in this set have the L on the rivets or does it have the incised Lionel MFG Co NY made in USA on the center?
Assumed it has the early triangle brush plate.
Great looking set.
I have only 1 olive 600 pullman, also a lost sole!
