Title: American Flyer Prewar
Post by: starfire700 on August 09, 2020, 06:17:42 AM
Since we have not had any AF on the site yet, other than a hang tag that I posted on another topic thread.....
Here is a look at my small but very colorful collection of American Flyer Prewar O gauge.
I especially appreciate the 5.5 and 6.5 inch lithographed 4 wheel cars.

Here is a passenger set with 3322 (I think) and 3280 series teal pullmans about to run on the Lake Shore Railway

I have always been fascinated with the recycled material that can be found inside cars. I did an article for CTT magazine in the 1990's called "Deep Dark Secrets of Louis Marx" about the litho inside 556 cabooses, which turned out to be surplus back-drop litho from a pre-WWII Marx shooting-gallery toy. I will go into that another time, another place.
Here is some interesting surplus litho found inside 1930's 4 wheel AF cars and some paint can litho found inside a Hafner Sunshine Special car.
Note the 1933 Century of Progress trolley litho
