Terry, YOW! When I first read your post I thought how sad your 12 year old Brother died and then I wondered what that had to do with Xerox. Then I realized the 12 year old Brother was a print machine!
Is this the guy showing an auction but when you open and go to the pictures he says its only a buy it now? I looked at his other auctions and it was construction equipment. How did he get 4000+ feedback operating like that?
It's strange the things that do turn up with no rhyme or reason. I have a few in my collection. As you say, you can build a case with the right factors.
Terry, I found another 1916 Electro-Set Catalog Like Paul had up for sale and bought it. It lists the 704 and 710 O Gauge Locomotives - Both Never Made.
Terry, I missed it! But believe it or not, this 802 was mine, or at least one exactly like it! I took it to York one year and showed it to Lou Redman. He wanted to hang on to it to study it and I never got it back. Now I know what happened to it. Thanks!
You'd think sellers, be they auction houses or individuals, would know by now not to wrap directly in Bubble Wrap. Those that use shipping services should insist that bubble wrap not be used for wrapping but for cushioning. I've also had problems with shippers using too small of boxes that just fit which results in dents and bends in merchandise. I bought a boxed outfit 162 that just fit but arrived with a nice crunch in the side of the box. For what's paid for shipping these days, we should expect more.
According to Paul Kovaks White Street Book, he says Madison Hardware became a Lionel Distributor in 1909. Also Lionel sent them there old, obsolete, unfinished, etc, etc. See page 8 of the book. Like a warehouse for everything Lionel didn't want or need and kept it up through the years.
