Lionel OO 5342 Headlamp Bulb

(1/2) > >>

Jim Cummings:
I've searched everywhere, but cam e up empty.

Anyone know the bulb number or voltage for the 5342 headlamp?  The one that came with the engine is burned out.  It is ink stamped '18' followed by what appears to be a triangle.  An 18V bulb seems rather high.

Thanks again.

Terry:
You want a 1447 Small globe screw base 18 volt. The 00 came with transformers with a range of 6-24V AC.

Jim, the 1940 operating manual lists bulb 616-13 for 001, 002, 003, 004, which is a small, screw-base 12 v clear bulb. Your 18 v bulb must have been defective, as it has a higher rating than the recommended 12v bulb. Any 12 to 18 v small screw base bulb should work, but an 18v bulb will burn dimmer than the 12v. Hope this helps.

Jim Cummings:
Jim, in your reply you mentioned a '1940 Operating Manual'.  Can you be a little more specific...include a photo of its cover perhaps.  I am always on the lookout for reference material.

Thank you in advance.

Jim C.

starfire700:
This is the manual that would come with sets when new. It varied slightly every year as new items were introduced.
