Favorite Postwar Electric Locos
« on: August 24, 2020, 01:12:19 PM »
Lionel made only 4 types of electric locomotives in the postwar era.
1. The diecast GG-1 was first in 1947 as single motor 2332 then 2330, 2340 and 2360 dual motor locos. They came in brunswick green or tuscan, and there was also a rare black version of the 2332. Most had 5-stripes, except the 2360 also came with a single bold stripe.
2. The "Little Joe" type came in Hew Haven, Milwaukee Rd, PRR and GN, all with bplastic shells and single motors.
3. The 2329 Virginian was the only single-pantograph rectifier type.
4. The 520 was the only GE 80 ton type.

I have pictured some of my favorites above.
Any GG1 with decent stripes is a favorite.
3 of the 4 Little Joe's are shown and the 2329 Virginian rectifier.
