Z 4000 pr0blem
« on: January 02, 2021, 06:38:05 PM »
My Z 4000 transformer worked great for ten years The last time I used it everything was fine. Nothing was changed or added.
Both handles all the way down. No open breakers. Fan runs. Fixed voltage works.
Now the problem. One day later.
Both the red and green lights glow dimly. Nothing else will light up. There is not any out-put from the variable posts.
Any ideas ?

If it was my Z4000 I’d call MTH service. See if they could give you something to look at. The Z4000 is not like a ZW where you can open it up and see if it something obvious. I’d still open the Z4000 just to see but it’s a big board and without special tools and knowledge you out of luck.

MTH service is only available at late afternoons but that’s the first thing I would do.

I bought another Z4000 a few months ago but I still have my ZW’s just in case. I’ve seen some real horror stories about Z4000 on other sites.

Good luck - wish I could help.

MTH showed no interest in helping. Suggested I see a dealer.
No dealer in my area 100 + miles away at least. Shipping was @ $50.00 one way.
Thanks for the info. I will probably get a ZW.
