T2 Example of Layout post
« on: May 05, 2020, 11:38:38 PM »
T2 is Terry's second account used for testing and instruction. This thread explains sharing your layout on the board and setting it up as a link in your signature.

For layout posts use one thread for each of your layouts. You can only post four pictures at a time and the picture size is restricted. Your camera assumes you want a picture large enough to look clear on a billboard. We don't need than that big.

Your phone might take fine pictures.

Before you write a post, take pictures of your layout and try to upload them to a new post in the layouts category. If you fail because the image size is too big, here's a report on modifying images along with links to free software:

Images 600 pixels wide seem to work fine for the board.

Adding your Layout Thread to your Signature

After you have created your layout thread, add a link to it in your signature.

Copy the URL of your layout post. Right click on this link https://www.train99.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;area=forumprofile;u=2

Then add the word layout to your signature and click on the Insert Hyperlink button (Second from left in second row) and then paste the url between the url tags.

It will look like this:

Code: [Select]
Layout: [url]https://www.train99.com/forum/index.php?topic=3.0;topicseen[/url]
You can add additional lines for other layouts and your introduction page.

While you're setting up the signature, you can also set up your website if you have one, or you can use that area to create a link to your eBay auctions. I set the link in the profile up with a link to my eBay auctions by copying the url of my eBay items for sale page.

Here's four more pictures of the layout under construction. This shows the track in place. This is all 072" curve  track except a few sections of 054 in the innermost circle. I have dozens of station platforms to put in the station tracks.

I'm trying to put a video in this post.

Here's a minute of my layout under construction running three trains. (The dog's name is Pudgy)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3RjjdmEwRs

HOW to POST Youtube videos:

1) Go To YouTube page for the video you want to share.
2) Copy the URL of the video.
3) Paste the  url into the post text box here in the forum where you want it to be.

It will look like this:

Code: [Select]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3RjjdmEwRs
The board will take care of everything else.

If that doesn't work, or you are an engineer,  you can use the youtube button on the right under the "change color" menu and paste your URL between the tags.

That will look like this:

Code: [Select]
[youtube]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3RjjdmEwRs[/youtube]
